On November 14, NET Italy Onlus organized a webinar aimed at putting together all the various figures involved in disease treatment and especially local authorities, clinicians, patients and caregivers to share the latest news about therapies with a focus on the unmet needs of the patients.
The online format of the NET Cancer Day event, due to Covid-19, has proven to be an effective solution, which allowed the participation of more than 100 patients all over Italy and abroad.
Among the various themes discussed, emphasis was given to the launch of a new research project “Mutational Analysis HRD in Pancreatic NET Patients” that will be carried out by the Department of Oncology and Hematology of University-Policlinic hospital of Modena-Reggio Emilia and supervised by Prof. Gabriele Luppi and Dr. Fabio Gelsomino. NET Italy Onlus will financially contribute to the research, through the funds received from donors and supporters and will duly report its progress in a timely manner to its associates.
The audience was also showed great interest in the results of the survey, carried out by NET Italy last May, about accessibility and availability of the nursing services needed by NET patients. The survey showed that a high percentage of patients claim difficulties with the administration of somatostatin analogues (either formulations) from the public health system, and the need of calling on private nurses to have their injection properly administered.
