I had several misdiagnoses and given treatment for IBS, early onset menopause, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression and asthma.

Marbellys Bayne-Azcarate (UK)

I was diagnosed in October 2015 with Stage IV Neuroendocrine Cancer. I had been experiencing intermittent and unexplained abdominal pain for five years; at the beginning of 2015 I also started having palpitations, hot dry flushes, elevated blood pressure, breathlessness and temporary loss of vision.
I had several misdiagnoses and given treatment for IBS, early onset menopause, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression and asthma.
Finally a locum GP asked me to describe everything that I had been experiencing and referred me to an endocrinologist who finally gave me the correct diagnosis. It was a very stressful time, but receiving that diagnosis was also a relief and a validation that I knew all along something wasn’t right with my body.
