It is with a most heavy heart that we announce that our dear friend and amazing colleague Tore Åsbu sadly passed away on May 9, Saturday at Haukeland Hospital in Norway. He was 63 years old. Tore has been involved in INCA since the very first meeting of the international NET community and remained highly engaged in taking the organization forward, initially serving on the international alliance’s steering committee, then on the Board of Directors of INCA until 2018. Tore was also a distinguished member of the INCA Communications Committee from 2011 until 2019.

He has been the champion of INCA social media communication and made remarkable achievements in growing awareness about neuroendocrine cancers, as well as enhancing INCA visibility.

Tore has served on the Board of Directors of CarciNor Norway for a total of 12 years, nine of which as Chair of the Board. Tore was also involved in the Nordic NET Alliance and was appointed Chairman of the interim Board. He has also served for 7 years in the Norwegian Cancer Society’s Board of Representatives and received CarciNor’s honorary mark in 2014.

Tore’s leadership and exceptional commitment have made a real difference for INCA and the whole international neuroendocrine cancer advocacy community.

INCA will always be grateful for his unmatched passion and exceptional contribution. Many of us keep such fond memories of his great singing talent, lovely sense of humor and unfading smile!

Our thoughts go to his beloved partner Kirsten and his family. Rest in peace, dear friend, you will always be in our hearts!
