Over one-third of patients reported specialized diagnostics, such as 68Ga-DOTA PET CT (40% [42/106]) and chromogranin A (CgA: 43% [46/106]) as unavailable.
Going around in vicious circles between numerous HCPs in the search for diagnosis: NET patients commonly had more than one HCP involved in their diagnosis. Approximately half of Gen NET patients had more than four HCPs involved in their diagnosis.
Key requirements to further drive forward improvements in global Gen NETs care and diagnosis include:
- Increasing the availability of NET diagnostics and treatment, particularly newer, more specialized tools
- More specialized provision of healthcare for Gen NETs
- Increasing the number of knowledgeable HCPs, especially endocrinologists and GPs
- Encourage testing of psychosomatic patients for hormone-producing tumors
- Improve awareness, knowledge and access to appropriate diagnostics, expertise and therapeutics
