Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy may be an option for patients who have pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, bronchial carcinoids, and also for some carcinoid patients whose tumors are growing a little quicker than they might normally do.

The histology of the tumor will help determine whether chemotherapy will be appropriate or not. If a patient undergoes chemotherapy the oncology team, who are specialists in this field, will look after him or her.

There are a number of clinical trials currently underway which are looking into the different combinations of chemotherapy agents that are most appropriate for different types of NET cancers.
